King places 16 on academic all-conference track & field teams

BRISTOL, Tenn. – As we near the Conference Carolinas Track and Field Championships, the league has awarded their academic all-conference lists. The Tornado had 10 women that made the team and six men for a total of 16 honorees.

On the women's side, Maegan Henry headlined the group of 10 individuals. Henry has set, and broke her own school record in the hammer throw during the outdoor season, most recently with a mark of 44.30 meters at the Liberty College Invitational last weekend. Eliza Parker and Tabby Arwood have also been impressive during the outdoor season, both setting multiple personal records in the distance events for the Tornado.

Alexis Robinson has led the sprinting group this season, and set a personal best in the 100 meters at the first outdoor meet, the Charlotte 49er Classic in March. Others that earned academic all-conference honors during the outdoor season were Carly GriffithShelbie BurchfieldTia KeittEmily DavidsonKendra Sokol and Evan Ferrell.

Throwers Tom Lamkin and Jeremy Stamper headline the men's honorees, both setting personal records in the hammer throw this season. Taylor Dix and Dickson Kurgat represent the distance runners with Dix setting a pair of personal bests so far in the outdoor season.

The 2014 Conference Carolinas Outdoor Track & Field Academic All-Conference representatives have been awarded to junior and senior student-athletes with a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher on a 4.0 scale in all work completed at their member institution that have played in a conference sponsored sport. The GPA is calculated based on the student-athletes cumulative average through the previous semester and each student-athlete must have attended their member institution for at least one academic year.
