Tornado set personal bests at outdoor opener

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The King University men's track and field team started the outdoor season with a successful meet at the Coastal Carolina Invitational. The Tornado had four individuals set personal records on the day.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • TJ McMurray set a personal best with a hammer throw mark of 45.07 meters to finish seventh.
  • Blaine Metcalf set a personal record in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 10:27.61 to finish fourth.
  • He also came in sixth in the 800 meter dash with a time of 2:03.02.
  • Daniel Kovalchick set a pair of personal records, finishing with a 1500 meter time of 4:12.36 and 5000 meter time of 16:22.88.
  • John Jablonski set a personal record in the shot put with a mark of 12.90 meters.
