BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University men's volleyball team cracked the Off the Block/Springbak Division II Coaches Poll for the first time. In the first poll of the season, the Tornado are ranked fifth in the Off the Block/Springbak Division II Coaches poll.
The Tornado received seven points in the poll and are ranked fifth behind a pair of their opening weekend opponents. UC San Diego is ranked second behind Lewis University. King fell to UC San Diego 3-1 on January 6 at UCLA.
Lindenwood University is ranked third and McKendree University is ranked just ahead of the Tornado at fourth with eight points. King defeated the Bearcats 3-1 on January 6 at UCLA.
The Tornado are 1-2 on the season and play their home opener on Thursday night when they host Alderson Broaddus University at 7:00 p.m. in the Student Center Complex.
About Off the Block
This is the second season of the Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. Division II National Coaches Poll, and it is the only national rankings in college men's volleyball solely for Division II teams.
Both NCAA Division I and NCAA Division II men's volleyball programs compete for the same national championship. The AVCA National Coaches Poll ranks the top 15 Division I-II men's volleyball teams and is released each Monday during the regular season.
A national voting committee comprised of coaches from the more than 20 Division II teams determines the weekly rankings for the Division II National Coaches Poll.
