BRISTOL, Tenn. – Kay Brokering had a big week for the King University softball team, leading the Tornado to a 4-2 record, including a 3-1 mark in Conference Carolinas play. On Tuesday she was selected Conference Carolinas Player of the Week after hitting .412 and driving in eight runs.
She started with two hits, a double and home run and three runs batted in as King defeated Lee University 6-4 in 10 innings on Wednesday. The Shelbyville, Ind., native followed that with a 3-for-3 performance with two doubles and four runs batted in as King topped Southern Wesleyan University on Friday. Brokering closed the week with a double in the 5-0 win for the Tornado at North Greenville. On the week she hit .412 with four doubles, a home run, three runs scored and drove in eight runs.
This marks the first time this season Brokering has been selected Conference Carolinas Player of the Week and the first time in her career.
King is scheduled to travel to Belmont Abbey College on Friday. First pitch from Belmont, N.C., is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
