BRISTOL, Tenn. – One week ago, the King University softball team won their second Conference Carolinas Tournament championship, clinching their second trip to the NCAA Division Softball Championship. On Monday, King learned who they would face, top-ranked and top-seed University of North Georgia.
The four-team double elimination tournament starts on Thursday and features North Georgia, eighth seed King, fourth seed Coker College and fifth seed Queens University. King takes on North Georgia at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, with a win the Tornado will play again at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, and with a loss at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
The second NCAA Southeast Regional will be hosted by second seed Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, N.C. That regional features third seed Georgia College, sixth seed Carson-Newman University and seventh seed Young Harris College.
King owns a 34-20 record, matching their program record for wins while North Georgia enters with a record of 56-2, winning their last 14 games. Coker enters with a record of 35-16 and Queens owns a 35-15 record. The Tornado defeated Coker 5-2 earlier this season and are 10-8 against the eight teams that qualified for the NCAA Southeast Regionals.
