BRISTOL, Tenn. – Kay Brokering had a big opening week for the King University softball team. She led the Tornado to four wins and was selected Conference Carolinas Player of the Week.
Brokering has started the season on fire with a .538 batting average through in the opening week. She also owns a 1.400 slugging percentage with two doubles, one triple and one home run. The Shelbyville, Ind., native helped King to a season-opening sweep of NCAA Regional participant Queens University by collecting four hits and driving in two runs in the doubleheader. Brokering went 2-for-2 with a triple and scored twice in game one before driving in a pair with a double in game two.
She closed the week by ripping her first home run of the season and driving in four on three hits in game two of a doubleheader sweep over Davis & Elkins College on Sunday.
This marks the third time in her career she has been selected Conference Carolinas Player of the Week and first time this season.
King returns to action on Saturday at the Columbus State University Tournament. The Tornado take on Lynn University at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday and Columbus State at 5:00 p.m.
