    WILSON, N.C. – The King University softball team stay unbeaten in Conference Carolinas play with a pair of wins at Barton College on Saturday. The Tornado scored two runs on a Hanna Adams single in the seventh inning to take game one 2-0 before winning the nightcap 6-0.

    MARS HILL, N.C. – The King University softball team came away with a split at Mars Hill University on Tuesday afternoon. The Tornado had chances in game one, but couldn’t cash in as Mars Hill took the game 7-2. The Tornado made the most of the opportunities in game two, taking the contest 12-0.

    COLUMBUS, Ga. – The King University softball team got off to a hot start at the Columbus State University Tournament with an 11-1 victory over Lynn University behind a huge game from Kay Brokering. Brokering stayed hot in the nightcap against Columbus State, but it wasn’t enough as the Cougars handed King their first defeat of the season, 7-1.

    BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University softball team swept their third straight doubleheader to start the season, taking a pair from Milligan College 9-4 and 13-0. The Tornado offense recorded 26 hits on the day and Emma Hughes finished the day with the program’s third no hitter.

On Sunday, King will now face Davis & Elkins College in a doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday’s doubleheader scheduled at Milligan College has been moved to Monday in Bristol with first pitch at 1:00 p.m.

    BRISTOL, Tenn. - 2018 was a season of firsts for the King University softball team, and the Tornado want to turn those firsts into standards going forward under first-year head coach Jake Cockerham. King won their first NCAA Division II Softball Championship contest in program history a season ago and had their first-ever first team all-region player. Cockerham returns nearly the whole team from a season ago as the Tornado aim for the Conference Carolinas title and another NCAA Regional appearance in 2019.

    BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University softball team traveled to Wilmington, N.C. over the weekend to help with cleanup following Hurricane Florence. The team helped a family move debris out of their yard and help repair their house that was damaged by the hurricane.

    BRISTOL, Tenn. – As a result of contributions from generous supporters and the use of institutional funds, King Athletics was able to make two upgrades to their athletic facilities this Summer, enhancing the student-athlete experience. The acrobatics & tumbling student-athletes arrived on campus in August to find a new locker room, while new bleachers were added to the softball complex, including a new set of stairs for easy access.

    BRISTOL, Tenn. – King University Director of Athletics David Hicks announced the resignation of Jenn Testa on Monday. Testa was a student-athlete at King and has led the Tornado softball program for the last 10 seasons. Her last day on campus will be July 31.

    BRISTOL, Tenn. – At the conclusion of the spring season, Conference Carolinas announced their Messick Sportsmanship Awards, and two King University teams were recognized. The King women’s tennis team and the Tornado softball team both earned Messick Sportsmanship Awards.
