GREENVILLE, S.C. - King College's Ashley Deans picked up the NCCAA Division I Women's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week award from the national office for a second straight week.
Deans, a senior forward, closed out her collegiate career with 19.0 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game averages at the NCCAA Division I National Tournament. Overall she was 21-for-40 from the field and 13-for-16 at the free throw line in the three games.
She started the event with 25 points against top-seed Southwestern Assemblies of God by going 8-for-16 from the field and a perfect 8-for-8 at the free throw line. She also pulled in eight rebounds.
In Friday's meeting with host Grace (Ind.) she totaled 14 points with a 5-for-11 effort from the field. She had four rebounds and two steals. Deans wrapped up the event with her third double-double of the season as King won the seventh-place game over Trinity International with 18 points and a season-best 11 rebounds.
The Lady Tornado finished the season at 14-18 with a return trip to the NCCAA National Tournament.
