Road Schedule Closes with Loss at Pfeiffer

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The Lady Tornado closed out the 2011-12 road slate, falling to the Pfeiffer University Falcons at Merner Gym, Saturday night. Three King College starters reached double figures in scoring but their efforts were not enough in the 84-61 defeat.

Freshman Alley Sprouse (Newport, Tenn.) and junior Brooke Johnson each finished with 14 points. Sprouse owned the paint, adding 11 rebounds to record her third double-double of the season. Sprouse also had four blocks to lead both sides.

Johnson hit five field goals on the day, one from three-point range while adding a trio of free throws. Jana Gross (Dayton, Ohio) was the third King player with 10-plus points. Her three field goals and 5-of-6 free throws led to her third straight double-digit scoring game.

King kept within four points through the first 12 minutes of the game, but a 13-2 run helped separate them from the Tornado. Pfeiffer maintained a 10 or better point advantage for the duration of the game after that run.

Tia Keitt (Dallas, Ga.) went 3-for-6 from the field, including a pair of threes to lead to an eight-point game.

The Lady Tornado will end their regular season on Friday, Feb. 24, when they host Erskine College on Senior Night from the Student Center Complex. They will begin a Tornado Basketball doubleheader beginning at 5:30 p.m.
