BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University women's golf team completed day one of the King Invitational on a high note. Going into the final round, the Tornado will carry an 18 shot lead after posting a score of 305. Elizabeth Swallow led the way for King after shooting a 72 currently sitting her in first.
Capping of the day for the Tornado was Swallow coming in with a round of 72. Swallow is currently tied for first with Krysta Schaus, of Erskine College. Samantha Taylor, currently sitting in fourth place tied with one other, finished the day shooting a 77.
Both Anna Walker and Cortnee Young were not far behind Taylor tallying scores of 78 placing them in sixth. Nicola Robertson rounded out the team shooting an 85, while Lindsay Taylor shot an 88 playing as an idividual.
King posted their best round in the last two years, shooting 305 in the first round. The Tornado sit atop the leaderboard ahead of Erskine College who shot 323. Milligan College and Barton College are tied for third after shooting 326.
Individually, Swallow and Schaus sit atop the leaderboard after posting scores of 72 with Barton's Sara Murray pushing the leaders after tallying a 73. Rounding out the top five is Rachel Moore, Erskine College, and Taylor, King University.
The teams will take the course tomorrow with the first tee times going off at 9:30 a.m.
