Tornado take ninth at Converse Spring Invite

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The King University women's golf team finished ninth at the Converse College Spring Invitational. The Tornado finished with a tournament total of 720 and were led by Sasha Gardiner.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Gardiner finished 12th, shooting 167. She carded an 85 in the first round and followed that with an 82 in the final round.
  • Riley Grunewald followed a first round of 88 with a 95 in the second round to finish with a stroke total of 183.
  • Morgan Powers improved on an opening round of 96 with a second round of 87, coming in with a stroke total of 183
  • Grace Gillen rounded out the team with a score of 187. She shot 94 in the first round and 93 in the second round.

FOR THE FOES

  • Lander University won the tournament with a score of 655 while Newberry College finished second at 656.
  • Alicia Fajardo of Coker University won the individual title with a score of 153.

  • King returns to the course on March 9-10 at the Barton Invitational. The tournament will be played at Wilson Country Club in Wilson, N.C.
