Jackie Stiles enters her third season as assistant coach for theKing women's wrestling team. She uses a wealth of experience andsuccess from her prior wrestling career and has helped elevate theLady Tornado to a No. 2 national ranking and crown three nationalchampions in the last two seasons.
In three years as an assistant under Head Coach Jason Moorman,Jackie Stiles has helped develop a three-year old program into anational powerhouse. In her first year with the team and just theprogram's second year of existence, Stiles was a part of historywhen King crowned its first National Champion when Marina Lambertwon the WCWA national title at the 197-pound division. The verynext year, King tripled its National Champion count when Stiles andthe Lady Tornado watched Krista Revelle and Emily Martin becomeNational Champions in front of their home crowd at the 2012 WCWANational Dual Championships. They also witnessed two teammates earnrunners-up honors, 13 named WCWA All-Americans, and six receivebids to the 2012 Olympic Trails held in Iowa City, Iowa.
As a part of the program's highlight season, all six that wereselected to participate at the 2012 Olympic Trials earned a spot oneither the United State Junior World or Pan-American teams. KaylaBartosch and Amanda Hendey went on to earn a gold medal at the 2012Pan-American Games, held in Guatemala.
Her career began at W.B. Ray High School in Corpus Christi,Texas where she wrestled her way to three district championships,one regional championship, and was a two-time state qualifier.Stiles went on to the University of the Cumberlands where shecaptained the Patriots three of the four years she competed.
In 2007, Stiles hit the pinnacle of her career when she became aNational Champion at the 105-pound (48 kg) division at the WCWANational Championships. Over her career she competed in the WorldTeam Trials, U.S. Open, McMaster and Collegiate Tournaments, andthe Body Bar World Junior Championships. She was a four-timeAll-American at UC and was ranked No. 1 at 51 kilograms in 2008.Over her career, she remained in the top-10 (ranked by TheMat.com)at three different weight classes every year she competed.
In addition to her coaching duties, Stiles is currently trainingto compete in the 2012-13 Open Season with aspirations of making anOlympic team.
She is a 2010 graduate of the University of the Cumberlands witha bachelor's degree in public health and exercise sports science.Stiles lives in Bristol (TN) with her fiancé Brian AbshireII and their son, Brian (1).
