BRISTOL, Tenn. – Following the completion of the first South Atlantic Conference Carolinas men's wrestling season, the league held a banquet to announce their all-conference performers. Both Kody Eichlin and Elijah Seay were selected first team.
Eichlin, a senior from Milford, N.J. earns all-conference honors for the second time and first team accolades for the first time. He had a stellar season at 174 pounds, going 18-8 with three pins, four major decision and two technical falls. In conference play, Eichlin posted a 4-1 mark that included two major decision and one pin. He finished fourth at the NCAA Super Region II Championships and qualified for the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships for the first time. A season ago, Eichlin was selected second team All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC).
Seay earns all-conference honors for the first time in his career. The junior was ranked as high as seventh in the nation and qualified for the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships by winning the NCAA Division II Super Region II championship at 197 pounds. He became the third Tornado to win a regional championship since King became NCAA Division II members in 2010-11. The Goodview, Va., native posted an overall record of 19-5 with seven pins and five technical falls.
Seay won 12 straight matches before falling at the NCAA Championships. He defeated three ranked opponents on the season, including a pin of third-ranked Levi Niebauer of Pitt-Johnstown at the NCAA Championships. He won all six of his conference matchups, including two pins and two technical fall victories.
