Tornado Pin Pool

Tornado Pin Pool

At the beginning of the year, we set a wrestling-focused fundraising goal to earn $100 for every pin that our guys get over the course of the season. Thanks to the generosity of our 2019-2020 Pin Pool members, we have reached our goal and will earn $106 for every pin that we rack up this season!

So far, the Men’s Wrestling Team has 39 pins going into this weekend where we will compete at the NCAA Super Region II Championships. After regionals, we head to Sioux Falls, S.D. for the NCAA DII National Championships. As we head into the end of our season, senior Elijah Seay (197lbs) leads the Tornado with nine pins followed by sophomore Cade Ridley who has five pins. Sophomores Rylee Billings (125lbs), Elijah Hicks (133lbs), and Tony Morales (165lbs) are all in a three-way tie for third having four pins apiece. Morales holds the record for the fastest pin this season. It only took him 59 seconds to pin Ethan Hoffman of UNC-Chapel Hill at the NC State Open back in November.

One question we have been getting quite often is, “When do I make my pledge?” At the end of the season in March, Coach Brown will send all Pin Pool members the team’s total number of pins along with pledge fulfillment information. At that time you will have the opportunity to make your pledge via check or credit card. All Pin Pool rewards will be distributed to our members before students leave for summer break in May!

If you would still like to pledge, it is not too late! You can visit to make your pledge today. Our Pin Pool will not close until after the NCAA Tournament in March.

At the conclusion of the season, we will contact Pin Pool members with the total number of pins along with pledge fulfillment information (tax-deductible). Support the Tornado, and Join Today!
