Goebel rejoined the Tornado staff in the summer of 2022 after serving as the head women's wrestling coach at Tiffin University of three years. Goebel was an assistant coach for the Tornado men's wrestling team for the 2018-19 season.

Year-By-Year Season Recaps
2022-23: In his first year on campus, Goebel led two individuals to the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships, Trent Mahoney and Clint Morrisette. Mahoney earned All-American honors, finishing sixth. Including with those two, the Tornado had seven regional placers. Mahoney also garnered first team All-South Atlantic Conference honors. Franky Medina earned both NWCA Scholar All-America honors and College Sports Communicators Academic All-District. King finished the season with an 11-9 record, going 5-5 in conference duals.
Prior to King
Most recently Goebel was the women’s wrestling head coach at Tiffin University. In three seasons guiding the Dragons, Goebel coached one individual national champion, 37 national qualifiers and 21 All-America honorees. In addition, 24 individuals were named National Wresting Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-Americans. Last season the Dragons finished fourth at the NWCA National Duals and earned a seventh-place finish at the National Collegiate Women’s Wrestling Coalition (NCWWC) National Championships.
Goebel was selected NCWA Northeast Region Coach of the Year following the 2021-22 season. He also received the Tiffin Faculty Athletic Representative Award in 2021, which is awarded to the team with the most improved GPA over an academic year.
In 2018-19, Goebel helped the Tornado men’s wrestling team finish 6-4 overall, going 3-3 in South Atlantic Conference Carolinas (SACC) matches. That season King had six individuals place at the NCAA Super Region II Championships, including one region champion. Two Tornado qualified for the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships and were selected All-SACC.
Prior to his stint at King, Goebel served as a student assistant coach at his alma mater, the University of Findlay. During his senior season, 2016-17, Goebel went 27-1 and finished third at the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships after winning the regional championship. That season he was ranked atop the national poll all season. In his career he was a three-time All-American, finishing third twice and fourth once. His career ended with a 102-16 record.
Personal
Goebel graduated from Findlay in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in strength and conditioning and is currently working towards his Master of Education in athletic administration from Findlay.
