Shelton score not enough for King at Anderson

ANDERSON, S.C. - King College was defeated 3-1 at Anderson (S.C.) University Wednesday.

The Lady Tornado scored for the first time in the 2010 season when Morgan Shelton (Chattanooga, Tenn.) recorded a goal off a goalie deflection that went into the net.

Shelton's score cut Anderson's lead in half at that point. Danielle Boltin put the home team in front at the 7:27 mark with a score from about 15 yards out. Krystal Goss added a second score with an assist from Alexandra Induni 10 minutes later.

The final Anderson, now 3-0 in 2010, score was recorded by Carrie Settle unassisted with 20 minutes left and scored from the left side.

Abbey Kitts (Tazewell, Va.) had nine saves with a total of 18 shots by Anderson, 12 on goal.

The Lady Tornado had six shots in the contest and three were on goal. Kaitlin Neipp recorded the two saves.

King will take a 0-3 record to Lenoir-Rhyne (N.C.) University for a 2 p.m. Saturday contest.
