King drops nonconference tilt at Milligan

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. – The King University women's soccer team took on the road to face Milligan College in a nonconference game. The Buffaloes scored in each half, taking the contest 3-0.

  • King put pressure on Milligan early, ripping a pair of shots in the first 15 minutes, the second from Miranda Smith was on target, but turned away by the goalkeeper.
  • However, Milligan got on the board in the 16th minute when Bekah Cundiff found the back of the net.
  • Olivia Drake then came up with a pair of saves in the final five minutes of the half, keeping the Tornado deficit at 1-0.
  • In the second half, Milligan came out on the offensive side, and Sami Joy extended the Milligan lead to 2-0 with a goal in the 65th minute.
  • The Tornado countered with a shot from Lizzy Boone, but her shot was turned away by the goalkeeper.
  • Poppy Smith made the final 3-0 in favor of Milligan when she found the back of the net in the 90th minute.
  • King posted eight shots, placing four on goal and earned three corner kicks.
  • Drake made nine saves for the Tornado.


  • Milligan placed 12 of their 19 shots on goal and earned six corner kicks.
  • Eva Bower came up with four saves in goal.


  • King returns home on Wednesday when they host 20th-ranked Limestone College at 2:00 p.m. at Parks Field
  • Milligan travels to Union College on Saturday.
