BRISTOL, Tenn. – Leading into the Conference Carolinas Tournament, the league announced their men's and women's academic all-conference honorees. Six Tornado from the men's team were recognized and three from the women's team.
On the men's seniors Ben Allan and Luis Calderon led the way with GPA's of 3.65 and 3.57, respectively. Allan scored his first two career goals this season and Calderon led the team with five assists and ranked second with four goals.
King's leading scorer, Carlos Saavedra earned academic all-conference with a GPA of 3.46. He led King with eight goals and added four assists. Ben Harris scored a pair of goals and handed out an assist while carrying a GPA of 3.54. Jake Davis and Sam Mburu rounded out the group with GPA's of 3.43 and 4.0, respectively. Davis posted a goals against average of 1.84 while Mburu scored a pair of goals, both coming in the same contest.
On the women's side, Olivia Drake, Brianna Barrett and Erin Jennings all earned academic all-conference recognition. Drake carries a 3.86 GPA and posted two shutouts and a 2.77 goals against average. Barrett made 11 starts in 16 appearances while carrying a 3.63 GPA. Jennings carries a 3.91 GPA and appeared in 15 games, making nine starts.
Conference Carolinas academic all-conference teams are comprised of junior and senior student-athletes who have competed in a conference-sponsored sport and maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher on a 4.0 scale in all work completed at their member institution.
