Tornado drop conference opener at Emmanuel

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The King University women's soccer team opened up Conference Carolinas play on Saturday afternoon on the road. The Tornado set a season-high for shots and shots on goal, but couldn't find the back of the net as they fell to Emmanuel College 5-0.

  • Hannah Logue was the story of the contest for Emmanuel, netting four goals in the contest.
  • Her first came in the seventh minute, and she followed with another in the 11th minute, giving the Lions the 2-0 lead.
  • The Tornado had a few of scoring opportunities in the opening half, the first a shot on gal from Kate Johnson in the 35th minute, but the attempt was turned away.
  • Alex Svetlik had a shot turned away in the 36th minute and Ava Hubbard ripped a shot on goal that was saved in the 40th minute.
  • The Lions moved play to the other end of the field for the final minutes of the first half, and Hannah Clements came up with a save, sending the game to halftime with Emmanuel leading 2-0.
  • It didn't take Logue long to find the back of the net in the second half, pushing the Lion lead to 3-0 in the 47th minute.
  • Jaida Souvannaraj and Maya Houston laced shots on goal in the 48th and 51st minutes, but both were turned away.
  • Emmanuel then moved play to the other end of the field, and Logue netted her fourth tally of the game in the 65th minute.
  • Kayla Brown added an insurance goal in the 80th minute, giving Emmanuel the 5-0 win.


  • King took a season-best 18 shots, 12 coming in the second stanza. Of those 18, King placed a season-high nine on goal, but Emmanuel goalkeeper Hannah Welch turned away all nine attempts.
  • The Lions took 25 shots, placing 13 on goal.
  • Clements made eight saves for the Tornado in goal.
  • Hubbard and Houston had two shots on goal each.


  • King travels to take on Maryville College (Tenn.) on Wednesday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Maryville, Tenn.
  • Emmanuel travels to Lee University on Wednesday night.
