BRISTOL, Va. – The King University women's swimming team took the pool on Friday night looking to get a win over nearby Milligan College. The Tornado defeated the Buffaloes 102-89 behind Sarah Hennies posting a new personal record.
First to take the pool for the Tornado was Samantha Vargo, Hennies, Rachel Fuller and Madison Wisley posting 2:04.52 in the 200 yard medley relay defeating Milligan. In the 200 yard freestyle relay, Nicole Maldonado, Bridget Estabrook, Jade Schroeder and Wisley recorded a time of 1:47.95 beating Milligan again.
Individually for the Tornado, Hennies posted a new personal record in the 100 yard breast stroke with a time of 1:18.42. Olivia Langford won the race of three in the 1000 yard freestyle after posting an 11:58.67. Maldonado and Schroeder finished one and two respectively in the 100 yard freestyle with times of 56:39 and 1:00.27. Fuller posted a time of 1:09.59 while Vargo notched a time of 1:09.90 in the 100 yard back stroke. Schroeder recorded a first place finish swimming the 200 yard freestyle in 2:11.42. Maldonado and Wisley finished atop the board in the 50 yard freestyle with times of 25.26 and 27.77.
Koai Martin posted a time of 2:45.86 in the 200 yard IM. Vargo and Fuller finished one and two in the 100 yard butterfly with times of 1:05.45 and 1:06.20. Langford sat in first in the 500 yard freestyle after posting a time of 5:47.53. Martin swam the 100 yard breast stroke in 1:27.48 to finish the day for the Tornado.
King will dive into the pool again October 18 at 1:00 pm when they will travel to West Virginia University Tech.
