King drops meet against Carson-Newman

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University women's swimming continued to prepare for the conference championships with a tough meet against Carson-Newman University. The Tornado had some good swims, but fell to the Eagles 152-31.

  • The 200 yard medley relay team of Jess Vargo, Macarena Martin Mayor, Nicola Mead and Madison Wisley started the meet with a time of 1:56.63.
  • The quartet of Dakota Bastin, Josie Gunn, Alexia Autrey and Lynsey Knox finished in 2:09.16.
  • In the 200 yard freestyle, Mead led three Tornado with a time of 2:09.48.
  • Gunn followed at 2:17.01 and Brooke Williams finished in 2:18.07.
  • Wisley finished third in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 25.21 seconds while Vargo finished in 26.81 seconds.
  • Martin Mayor finished the 200 yard individual medley in 2:21.90.
  • In the 100 yard butterfly, Mead finished runner-up with a time of 1:00.45 while Alexia Autrey came in with a time of 1:06.52.
  • Williams touched the wall for the 100 yard freestyle in 1:00.26 while Autrey came in at 1:02.68.
  • In the 100 yard freestyle, Knox finished in 1:08.71 while Bastin finished in 1:17.56.
  • Gunn finished the 500 yard freestyle in 5:59.43.
  • Martin Mayor came in with a 100 yard breaststroke time of 1:12.86.
  • The 200 yard freestyle relay team of Williams, Wisley, Vargo and Knox closed the meet with a time of 1:46.69.


  • The Tornado travel to Union College (Ky.) on February 2 before the Conference Carolinas Championships on February 6-9.
