King Tennis wins against Bridgewater

BRISTOL, Tenn. - The King College men's and women's tennis teams returned to the win column Wednesday as the Tornado beat Bridgewater (Va.) College 7-1 while the Lady Tornado picked up a 5-2 victory.

In the women's contest King started with a 2-1 lead after doubles as Virginie Brioschi (Geneva, Switzerland) and Nerece Stoltz (Witbank, South Africa) was an 8-1 winner at No. 1. Brittany Freund (Bluefield, W.Va.) and Eden Sherrod (Kingston, Tenn.) posted an 8-5 No. 3 doubles' win.

The match was eventually clinched when senior Crystal Harwell (Nashville, Tenn.) won at No. 5 singles 6-2 and 7-5. Brioschi and Freund were also singles' winners at No. 1 and No. 6, respectively.

On the men's side King swept the doubles' action by a combined score of 25-12. In the four singles' matches that were completed King did not drop a set and the quartet only lost 11 games.

Jose Avila (Cuernavaca, Mexico) was the No. 1 singles' winner 6-3 and 6-0 while Pablo Vidal (Madrid, Spain) posted a 6-2 and 6-4 No. 2 singles' victory. Seth Hale (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Eiki Magnusson (Reykjavik, Iceland) both only lost one game in their matches. Hale and Magnusson teamed up for an 8-2 doubles' decision.

The Tornado's record went to 8-2 while the Lady Tornado improved to 6-4.

King will go to Tusculum (Tenn.) College for a 1 p.m. match Friday.
