BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University women's tennis team opened their spring schedule with a home dual against Tusculum College. The Pioneers set the tone early en route to the 9-0 victory.
Tusculum (5-1) started by winning all three doubles matches, including an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2 doubles, the King (3-3) duo of Mariana Hosomi and Naomi Reyes nearly came away with a victory, but fell 8-6 to Erin Mills and Adrienne Kaye.
In singles play, Katya Cerny dropped a tough 6-2, 6-2 decision to Sarah Baker at No. 1 while Hosomi fell 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3 three to Kate Hutchinson.
King will be in action again on Saturday when they travel to Randolph-Macon College. The dual is slated to start at 1:00 p.m.
