King defeats Ferrum for first win since 2017

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University women's tennis team was back in action on Friday as they hosted Ferrum College. The Tornado were able to come out on top and collect their first win since 2017.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • At No. 1 doubles, the tandem of Vanessa Francios and Alejandro Jordyn Karmatz took the match against Morgan Scott and Autumn Murray-Burns 6-0.
  • At No. 2 doubles Marylin Roustand and Lauren Smorgonsky defeated Alexandra Dixon and Jordan Thompson 6-3.
  • At No. 3 doubles the duo of Murphy Harr and Isla Bell topped Mallory Scott and Chelsea Zizzi 6-2 to cap off doubles play.
  • At No. 1 singles play Roustand started off singles play defeating Scott 7-6, (7-2), 6-1
  • Francois, Smorgonsky, followed with victories of their own.
  • At No. 5 singles Harr topped Scott 6-2, 6-2.
  • Bell capped off the day for the Tornado with a straight 8-0 win over Hailee Green.
