Tornado take a doubles match, fall at LMC

BANNER ELK, N.C. – The King University women's tennis team earned a doubles win at Lees-McRae College on Wednesday afternoon. However, the Bobcats won the other two doubles matches and all six singles matches to defeat King 7-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Marylin Roustand and Lauren Smorgonsky earned a win at No. 2 singles, 7-6 (8-6) over Zeynep Cakirer and Mackenzie Langmade.
  • However, the Bobcats won the final two doubles matches to take the doubles point.
  • At No. 5 singles, Murphy Harr played tough against Rebecca Pierce, but fell 6-4, 6-3.
  • Vanessa Francios fell to Nursharneem Shamsuddin 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.
  • Lees-McRae won the final four singles matches to take the dual 7-0.

UP NEXT

  • King travels to take on Chowan University on Saturday. The dual is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.
  • Lees-McRae travels to Barton College on Saturday.
