JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The King University women's track and field team stretched their legs for the first time this spring at the East Tennessee State University Classic. Maegan Henry and Eliza Parker both highlighted the day for the Tornado, both taking top-10 finishes.
Henry finished 10th in the weight throw with toss of 15.29 meters before taking seventh in the shot put with a mark of 13.54 meters. Parker posted a 5,000 meter time of 19:09.13 to take third on Friday before finishing 11th with a 3,000 meter personal record time of 10:47.07. Also taking a top-10 finish in the 5,000 meters was Amelia Martin with a time of 19:30.70 to take eighth.
Jordan Jennings had a solid second meet for the Tornado, finishing the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:01.57 and the 200 meter dash in a time of 27.02 seconds. In the shot put, Deeanna Luchini posted a personal record with a mark of 8.02 meters. Shelbie Burchfield nearly set a personal record in the 400 meters with a time of 1:04.64.
King will be in action again on January 30-31 at the Hilton Garden Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C., at JDL FastTrack.
