Parker leads King with new school record

ROCK HILL, S.C. – The King University women's track and field team returned to action at the Winthrop Invitational in their second outdoor event of the season. Eliza Parker highlighted the Tornado performances in the 3000 meter steeplechase while Amelia Martin, Hannah Sanford and Maegan Henry posted solid finishes.

Parker was quite impressive in her first 3000 meter steeplechase of her senior campaign, registering a second place result with a new school record time of 11:24.11. The previous record was a time of 11:31.43.

The duo of Martin and Sanford shined in the 1500 meter race with times of 5:04.09 and 5:21.72, respectively. Martin earned a sixth place finish while Sanford posted a 23rd place finish in the event.

Henry performed well in the discus with a mark of 31.92 meters, a 21st place finish. The senior also recorded a 11th place result in the shot put with a throw of 12.23 meters. Maggie Edwards finished the 800 meter event with a time of 2:31.38 while Sidney Jackson registered a mark of 1:15.22 in the 400 meter hurdles.

King will be in action again on Saturday, April 4 when they will compete at the Terrier Relays in Spartanburg, S.C.
