BRISTOL, Tenn. – As we near the Conference Carolinas Outdoor Track and Field Championships, the league announced their academic all-conference honorees. The Tornado placed three women and three men on the academic all-conference team.
Conference Carolinas' Academic All-Conference Teams are comprised of junior and senior student-athletes who have competed in a conference-sponsored sport and maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher on a 4.0 scale in all work completed at their member institution. The GPA is calculated based on the student-athlete's cumulative average through the previous semester and each student-athlete must have attended their member institution for at least one academic year.
On the men's side, Tanner Cook, Jeremy Stamper and Caleb Greene all earned the distinction this year. Cook carries a GPA of 3.59 and the distance runner posted a 5,000 meter time of 15:14.51 at the Wake Forest Invitational earlier this year, coming within 0.10 seconds of a personal record. He later posted a personal best with a 10,000 meter time of 32:11.42 at the Colonial Relays. Stamper has a GPA of 3.70 and Greene carries a 4.0 GPA and neither haven't competed in an outdoor meet for the Tornado this season.
Lindsey Burnett, Whitney Roberts and April Thomas all earned the distinction on the women's side. This season, Burnett has posted marks of 4.96 in the long jump and 21.90 meters in the javelin throw this year while carrying a 3.64 GPA. She carries a 3.98 GPA for the Tornado.
