Grayson, Ballowe take ECAC Weekly Awards

BRISTOL, Tenn. – A pair of King University track and field athletes were recognized by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) following their performance at the season-opening ETSU Invitational. James Russell Ballowe was named ECAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week and Taylor Grayson was selected ECAC Women's Track and Field Rookie of the Week.

Ballowe, a junior started with a time of 9:04.77 in the 3000 meters, taking nearly two seconds off his previous fastest time. Ballowe then posted a fifth place finish in the 5000 meters with a time of 15:36.37. His previous fastest indoor 5000 meter time of 15:50.08 came last season.

In her first collegiate meet, Grayson was the top NCAA Division II finisher in both the weight throw and shot put at the ETSU Invitational. Overall, she finished ninth with a mark of 13.48 meters in the weight throw and 12th in the shot put with a mark of 11.10 meters.

The Tornado are back in action again on Saturday at the Wake Forest Invitational, hosted at JDL FastTrack in Winston-Salem, N.C.
