BRISTOL, Tenn. – Prior to the Conference Carolinas Indoor Track & Field Championships, the league announced their academic all-conference performers. King University had four men and three women named to the team.
For the men, Daniel Kovalchick led the way with a 3.59 GPA while Tyler Edwards follows with a 3.45 GPA. TJ McMurray and Braidon Miller were honored as well with GPAs of 3.39. This season Kovalchick has posted personal records in the mile, 800 and 3.000 meters. McMurray has set personal records in the weight throw and shot put while Miller has set the school record in both the weight throw and shot put.
On the women's side, Kaitlin Rivera leads the way with a 3.92 GPA while Hannah Kusmierz and Brianna Barrett were honored with GPAs of 3.76 and 3.67, respectively. Barrett has set personal records in the mile and 800 meters while Rivera set a personal best in the 3000 meters.
Conference Carolinas academic all-conference teams are comprised of junior and senior student-athletes who have competed in a conference-sponsored sport and maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher on a 4.0 scale in all work completed at their member institution.
The Conference Carolinas Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships are scheduled for Sunday at JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C.
