Barton leads King at conference outdoor championships

CENTRAL, S.C. – The King University women's track & field team finished seventh at the Conference Carolinas Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Kirstin Barton led the way for the Tornado, earning all-conference in three events.


  • Barton started the weekend with a runner-up finish in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 41:03.84.
  • On Saturday, Barton qualified for the finals of the 1500 meters where she posted a time of 5:05.20 to finish third.
  • Barton took her third all-conference finish in the 5000 meters, taking third with a time of 19:30.48.
  • Rebekah Thomas also ran well in the 10,000 meter run, finishing sixth with a time of 43:03.49.
  • In the 400 meter hurdles, Whitney Christian qualified for the finals with a prelims time of 1:11.56. She finished sixth with a finals time of 1:07.61.
  • Jada Owens set a personal record in the high jump, finishing fourth, clearing 1.50 meters.
  • On Saturday, Larynn Clopton finished fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 11.04 meters.
  • The 4x100 meter relay team of Christian, Isis Smith, Jada Owens and Clopton finished eighth with a time of 52.21 seconds.
