Ward selected Conference Carolinas Player of the Week

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Following a 4-1 week for the King University women's volleyball team, Julie Ward was selected Conference Carolinas Player of the Week. In four matches she averaged 3.77 kills and 3.23 digs per set and was selected to the Concord Tournament all-tournament team.

The freshman came away with a pair of double-doubles last week, running her season total to five. Ward narrowly missed a double-double in the week's opening match, a 3-0 win over UVa-Wise where she accounted for 14 kills and nine digs.

She then posted a career-high with 17 kills and added 16 digs in a 3-1 win over Concord University at the Concord Tournament on Friday. The Berthoud, Colo., native followed that with 11 kills and 10 digs for her second straight double-double in a sweep of Kentucky State University.

The Tornado open Conference Carolinas play on Friday when they take on Barton College at 7:00 p.m. in the Student Center Complex. King then hosts the University of Mount Olive on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
