BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University women's volleyball team had a great month of October and two individuals were recognized. Julie Ward was selected Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Offensive Player of the Month while Brittney Ramsey garnered ECAC Defensive Player of the Month honors.
Ward had a big month for the Tornado, averaging 4.00 kills and 3.07 digs per set, and was selected Conference Carolinas Player of the Week on October 28. The Berthoud, Colo., native posted six double-doubles in the month, reaching double figures in kills six times.
She posted a high of 19 kills in a win at Chowan University, and in back-to-back matches, she registered an attack percentage of .400 in wins over Emmanuel College and Erskine College. Ward posted 18 kills in the sweep of Emmanuel and added 13 kills in the sweep of Erskine. She led King to five straight wins, including four straight sweeps, and posted an attack percentage of .213 in October
Ramsey was a force at the net for the Tornado in October, averaging 1.00 blocks per set. The Johnson City, Tenn., native posted at least three blocks in five matches. She recorded six stuffs, including two solo in a sweep of Southern Wesleyan University and added five blocks at Southern Wesleyan. She also added four stuffs at Lees-McRae.
This marks the first time for each they have been honored for a monthly award from the ECAC.
The Tornado are in action again on Wednesday at North Greenville University. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
