BRISTOL, Tenn. – Following a spectacular week, Julie Ward was selected Conference Carolinas Player of the Week for the third time this season. The sophomore hit better than .300 and averaged 5.00 kills per set as she led the King University women's volleyball team to three wins last week.
Ward may have turned in her best week of the year, leading the Tornado to a 3-0 record as they moved into a tie atop the Conference Carolinas West Division standings. She started with a career-high 24 kills while hitting a blistering .579 in a 3-1 win at North Greenville University on Wednesday. The Berthoud, Colo., native followed that with 23 kills and 14 digs, her 12th double-double of the season, in a 3-1 win at Emmanuel College.
Ward closed the week with eight kills and 15 digs in a sweep at Erskine College. For the week she posted 55 kills (5.00/set) while hitting .336. The outside hitter added 35 digs for an average of 3.18 per set, four blocks and six service aces.
She also was selected Conference Carolinas Player of the Week on September 9 and October 28.
The Tornado close the regular season on Saturday when they host Conference Carolinas rival Lees-McRae College on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
