Lady Tornado Down Jamestown in Opening Day of National Duals
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – King College women's wrestling surrendered only one individual loss and five points total to the Jamestown College Jimmies (NAIA) in a victory during the opening day of action at the NCWA/Cliff Keen National Duals, Saturday evening.

King allowed only two points until the final bout of the match, including nine previous bouts. The Lady Tornado earned nine easy points by forfeit when the Jimmies did not send competitors to the mat for the 101, 109 and 170-pound weight divisions and another three when Tiffany Sluik (130) withdrew due to injury.

Alli Ragan (143) registered the team's lone pin in the victory. Just 1:12 into the bout, the Carbondale, Ill. native impressed her home state with the takedown and gave the Lady Tornado a 25-1 lead, all but sealing the win for King.

Samantha Kingel (Kresgeville, Pa.) overcame a four-point deficit in the first round of her bout against Michelle Canete by scoring eight unanswered points for the come-from-behind 8-4 victory. Klingel responded with a five-point second period to retake the lead and capped off the victory with three insurance points while shutting out Canete in the final minutes of the bout.

Lorrie Ramos (Orlando, Fla.) faced a similar style match at the 155-pound division when she was forced to battle back from a 1-4 setback in the first period. Ramos fell behind to Michelle Quiles but responded with a 4-0 second period performance to take a one-point lead. In the third period, Ramos and Quiles exchanged points before the freshman recorded a final point to ensure victory.

King, currently ranked second in the nation (WCWA), will return to action Sunday morning against No. 3 Simon Fraser in the semifinal round of the NCWA/Cliff Keen National Duals. Simon Fraser defeated Missouri Valley College 37-5 on Saturday evening. The winner of King/Simon Fraser will advance to the finals to play the winner of No. 1 Oklahoma City University and No. 4 Lindenwood.
