Black takes Junior Pan American title

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario, Canada – King University women's wrestler Megan Black continued in the footsteps of her Tornado teammates earlier this summer, taking gold at the Junior Pan American Women's Championships. The freshman won both of her matches at the event en route to the title.

The Batavia, Iowa native was one of two Americans to win gold medals and one of seven that earned a medal at the event, which took place just outside of Toronto. Black wrestled at 55 kilograms, winning her first bout over Canada's Amber Lynn Maschke 12-0 to reach the finals. In the finals, Black squared off against Martha Vanessa Olivares of Peru in a tight bout. The match ended knotted at 8-8, but Black took the victory on criteria.

MADRID, Spain – Over the Fourth of July holiday weekend, the duo of Sarah Hildebrandt and Alli Ragan both competed for Team USA at the Grand Prix of Spain. Both wrestlers helped the team take the title in the 18 team event.
