King has three alums earn 2019 USA World Team spots

LINCOLN, Neb. – For the second time in program history, the King University women's wrestling team had three alums make the Team USA World Team. Forrest Molinari earned her spot a week ago while Sarah Hildebrandt and Alli Ragan earned their spots on Saturday.

In the best-of-three Final X competition in Piscataway, N.J. on June 8, Molinari dropped her first match at 65 kilograms to Maya Nelson 5-4. However, Molinari came back to take the second bout 4-1, forcing a decisive third match. Molinari then earned her second World Team with a 12-2 technical fall win.

On June 15 in Lincoln, Neb., Ragan started the day for the King contingent with a sweep of Lauren Louive at 59 kilograms with a pair of 10-0 technical fall victories. Ragan is a two-time World medalist and made seven straight world teams, earning silver medals in 2016 and 2017. She missed the World Championships in 2018 due to injury.

Later in the evening, USA Wrestler of the Year, Hildebrandt came home with a sweep of Katherine Shai at 53 kilograms. Hildebrandt took the first bout 3-0 before winning the second match 8-0. Hildebrandt took silver a year ago at the World Championships and is a four-time Pan American Championships champion.

The World Championships will be held later this fall.
