23 Tornado named Academic All-Conference Carolinas

Academic All-Conference Carolinas

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Conference Carolinas announced their fall academic all-conference honorees on Wednesday. King University had 23 juniors and seniors recognized from men's soccer, women's soccer, women's volleyball and men's and women's cross country.

Men's Soccer

L.A. Anderson and Chance Arnold earned academic all-conference accolades for the second year in a row. Anderson, who has appeared in all 10 games, making seven starts for the Tornado, owns a 3.30 GPA. Chance Arnold has a 3.91 GPA.

The tornado that earned academic all-conference for the first time were Diogo Ruivo, Leo Braga, Dalton Gammon, Charles Johnson, and Cameron Horsfall. Ruivo owns a 3.53 GPA and Braga owns a 3.58 GPA. Gammon has had 36 saves so far this season for the Tornado and he has a 3.84 GPA. Horsfall owns a GPA of 3.92 and has made two starts in three appearances in goal. Johnson has a 3.91 GPA and has started nine of the 10 games he has appeared.

Women's Soccer

Alex Svetlik, Presley Bacon, Taylor Lane, and Meghan O'Ferral all earned first-time academic all-conference honors. O'Ferral, who leads the team with three goals, owns a GPA of 3.93. Bacon, who has scored one goal this season, has a GPA of 3.74. Svetlik has a GPA of 3.58 and Lane has a GPA of 3.90.

Women's Volleyball

Earning academic all-conference recognition for the second straight year are Tristyn Lozano, Sydney Pigage, Rebekah Hill, Remi Thele, and Victoria Gause. Lozano, averages 3.05 kills per set so far this season, has a 3.74 GPA while Pigage leads the defense with an average of 4.57 digs per set and owns a 3.75 GPA. Hill has a 3.64 GPA while Thele and Gause have GPAs of 3.63 and 3.74, respectively.

Keri Ricker earned academic all-conference honors. Ricker, who leads the team with 455 assists, has a 3.77 GPA and Cathy Scaniffe earned recognition for the third time with a 3.82 GPA.

Men's Cross Country

Kade McDonald, Kyle Hart, and Brandon Bejarano earned honors. This marks the first time that each has been named academic all-conference. McDonald's owns a 3.26 GPA and he ran an 8k personal-best 27:08.3 earlier this season at the Royals XC Challenge. Hart has a GPA of 3.58 and he ran an 8k personal-best 26:43.8 at the Royals XC Challenge. Bejarano has a GPA of 3.86 and has run in two races for the Tornado.

Women's Cross Country

Kaitlin Rivera and Brianna Barrett earn academic all-conference accolades for the second time. Rivera has a GPA of 3.90 and ran a season-best 19:52.7 over the 5k distance at the Royals XC Challenge. Barrett owns a 3.67 GPA and covered the 5k distance in a season-best 22:59.4 at the Wingfoot Classic.

Conference Carolinas academic all-conference teams are comprised of junior and senior student-athletes who have competed in a conference-sponsored sport and maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher on a 4.0 scale in all work completed at their member institution.
