Numpituckchaikul wins Hargett Memorial Invite, King takes sixth

MONROE, N.C. – Leennawat Numpituckchaikul slept on a one stroke lead at the Hargett Memorial Invitational hosted by Wingate University going into the tournament's third and final round on Tuesday. The junior didn't feel the pressure as he went out and posted another round under par, his third of the tournament, finishing as individual medalist by two strokes with a score of four under par. He led the Tornado to a sixth place finish of 15 teams with a three round total of 896 after their final round of 300.

Numpituckchaikul shot 71-70 in the first two rounds on Monday, giving him a score of three under par going in the final round where he shot 71, finishing with a tournament total of 212 and giving him a two shot victory over Evan Gfeller of North Greenville University. The 212 marks the juniors best three round tournament score and gives him his first collegiate victory.

He was followed by Ross Maietta who finished with a tournament score of 228 after carding a 78 in the final round. Mathias Bunaes wasn't far behind, and turned in King's second lowest score in the final round with a 75. He finished with a three round total of 229. John Scott came in next, shooting 76 in the final round for a tournament total of 231. Taylor Gouge carded an 81 in the final round, finishing with a tournament score of 237 to round out the Tornado.

King finished sixth with a tournament score of 896 after their final round of 300. Tusculum College won the tournament with a score of 885 with Mars Hill University taking second at 887 and Wingate University finishing third at 888. North Greenville University carded a team total of 889 to take fourth and Brevard College finished fifth at 894.

King will be in action again on March 23-24 at the Bearcat Invitational at Greenwood Country Club in Greenwood, S.C.
