Box Score JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The King University baseball team had their bats come alive on Tuesday at Carson-Newman University. The Tornado pounded out 15 hits and ripped three home runs in their 11-6 nonconference victory.

KING HIGHLIGHTS
- Barbour and Castaneda led the way offensively, each going 3-for-5. Castaneda drove in one and scored another while Barbour scored twice.
- Valdes ripped his second home run of the season and drove in three.
- Bailey scored twice and laced his second home run of the year.
- Flora drove in three a ripped his first career home run.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Bailey got King on the board in the third inning with a leadoff home run.
- The lead was short-lived, however, as the Eagles posted a pair of doubles to score one and even the tally at 1-1.
- King opened the game up with five runs in the fourth inning, taking a 6-1 advantage.
- The Tornado got run-scoring hits from Barbato, Castaneda and Michael in the frame.
- Carson-Newman chipped away at their deficit, scoring one unearned run in the fourth and two more unearned runs in the fifth to cut the King lead to 6-4.
- Valdes extended the Tornado lead with a two-run home run in the sixth and Flora made it an 11-4 lead with a three-run home run in the seventh inning.
- Carson-Newman tacked on one in the seventh and threatened in the ninth, scoring one run and having the bases loaded, but Michael closed the door.
- He earned his first save of the season and gave King the 11-6 win.
FOR THE FOES
- Langhorne led the Eagles, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a double.
- Snapp drove in three, going 2-for-3 with one run scored.
