Box Score WILSON, N.C. – The King University men's basketball team traveled to take on one of the top teams in Conference Carolinas on Tuesday night, Barton College. The Bulldogs got off to a hot start, and the Tornado couldn't fight their way back, dropping the contest 87-64.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
- The Bulldogs got off to a hot start, scoring the game's first 14 points before a pair of Mike Salomon free throws got King on the board.
- James Brown scored the first field goal of the contest for the Tornado, nearly eight minutes in.
- The Tornado cut into their deficit with an 11-2 where King scored eight straight points, capped by triples from Brown and Justin Frazier.
- However, Barton responded with seven straight points, stretching their lead back to 14 points.
- King scored the seven of the final nine points of the half as a Jordan Young basket cut the Tornado deficit to 43-32 at the break.
Second Half
- The Bulldogs opened the second half with four straight points, stretching their advantage back to 15 points.
- King chipped away at their deficit and a Salomon basket cut the Tornado deficit to single digits for the first time since the opening minutes at 52-43.
- The teams then went back-and-forth until Barton broke the game open with a 13-0 spurt that gave the Bulldogs a 78-55 lead with six minutes remaining.
- The Tornado couldn't comeback after that spurt as the Bulldogs took the contest 87-64.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Brown and Frazier led King with 15 points apiece.
- Frazier handed out eight assists while Salomon chipped in with 11 points.
FOR THE FOES
- Jake Kakar led five scorers in double figures with 20 points.
- Blake Burdack followed with 16 points and eight rebounds while Bobby Stenborg added 15 points.
- Michael Boykin posted 12 points and 10 assists.
UP NEXT
- King returns home to take on the University of Mount Olive on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. in the Student Center Complex. Earlier this year, King fell at Mount Olive 78-63.
- Barton travels to North Greenville University on Saturday.
