BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University men's volleyball team opened their home schedule on Friday night against Lindenwood University (Mo.). The Lion defense played tough all night as the King offense couldn't get on track in the 3-0 defeat.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
- Lindenwood wasted no time getting ahead, using a 5-0 run to take a 6-1 lead.
- The Tornado gradually worked their way back as a Jack Sarnowski ace pulled King within 11-9.
- However, the Lions later scored four straight points to open up a 17-11 lead an eventually take the set 25-18.
Second Set
- Just as they did in the opening set, Lindenwood got off to a good start, using a 4-0 spurt to take a 5-1 advantage.
- The Tornado deficit grew to 11-3 following a Lion 6-1 run.
- King couldn't get a run going against the Lion defense as Lindenwood took the 25-17 victory.
Third Set
- The Tornado looked to get back into the match as a Jackson Carroll kill gave the Tornado a 6-3 lead.
- King later led 11-9 following a Joshua Kim service ace before Lindenwood went on a run.
- The Lions scored six straight points to open up a 15-11 advantage before the Tornado called a timeout.
- The Lions later scored three straight points, taking an 18-12 lead following the 7-1 spurt.
- King couldn't come back as the Lions took the set 25-19 and the match 3-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Kim led the Tornado with nine kills and seven digs.
- Aaron Milstead and Carroll followed with five kills each.
- Sarnowski dished out 19 assists.
FOR THE FOES
- Phil Swartz and AJ Lewis led Lindenwood with nine kills each while Diego Negron added eight kills.
- Connor Sheehan handed out 26 assists and added seven digs.
UP NEXT
- King returns to the court on February 6 at Queens University. First serve is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
- Lindenwood takes on Lincoln Memorial University on Saturday.
