MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The King Women's cross country team won their fifth Conference Carolinas championship and second in the last three years on Saturday morning. The Tornado led the way with five All-Conference Carolinas performers, including
Chloe Wade who finished fifth.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wade crossed the tape first for the Tornado with a time of 23:27.5.
- Fellow freshman running her first 6k, Ashley Doyle came in 10th with a time of 23:59.8.
- Meg Davis came in 11th, crossing the finish line in 24:21.6.
- The next Tornado to finish was Destiny Haller who finished in 24:29.2 to take 16th.
- Morgan Whitley finished her first 6k in 24:46.4 to take 19th.
- Grayson Howe finished with a time of 25:51.0 to take 36th.
- Andrea Stansberry came in 88th with a time of 32:10.3.
FOR THE FOES
- King finished first, edging out UNC Pembroke by one point. Converse University came in third.
- Jackline Kosgei of UNC Pembroke won the individual title with a time of 22:45.7.
BEYOND THE RESULTS
- King wins their fifth Conference Carolinas in 11 years as league members. The Tornado also won conference titles in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2019.
- Interim head coach Brandon Ellis was selected Conference Carolinas Coach of the Year.
- Ellis is the third Tornado coach to earn Conference Carolinas Coach of the Year honors.
- Davis set a personal record by nearly 30 seconds, topping her previous best time of 24:50.2.
- Howe also set a personal best, coming by more than 30 seconds. Her previous best 6k time was 26:35.5.
- Stansberry also set a personal record, lowering her previous best time of 33:13.3
ALL-CONFERENCE CAROLINAS
- The top 21 finishers were selected All-Conference Carolinas.
- Wade earned first team honors.
- Doyle and Davis garnered second team honors.
- Haller and Whitley earned third team recognition.
- Davis earned all-conference honors for the second straight season and second time in her career.
- Haller earns all-conference honors for the second straight year.
UP NEXT
- The Tornado return to the course on November 6 at the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Championship. The meet is scheduled to take place in Spartanburg, S.C.
