BRISTOL, Tenn. – King University esports had another busy week. Valorant had a close encounter after a huge rally while Rocket League B bounced back to take a sweep in the NECC. FIFA grabbed an ECAC win and Rocket League A was busy with CRL Open play. Rocket League also made their first trip to the North Central College Rocket League LAN Invitational in Naperville, Illinois.
FIFA
- King competed against Stockton University this week for ECAC league play.
- King played well across the entire series to control the field and take time when needed.
- As a result the first game was very close but controlled, giving King the first game 3-2.
- Game two was a similar story as King gained a quick lead and continued to control the field.
- King won the second game 4-2 to improve to 2-2 overall in ECAC play.
ROCKET LEAGUE
- Rocket League A was busy this weekend as they made the 12-hour trip to North Central to compete in the first North Central College Invitational.
- They fared well in the pool phase, ending up 2-1 due to technical difficulties.
- Moving into the bracket phase King recovered and made it to the semifinals.
- There they met eventual tournament champion Illinois who put together a very strong performance and stopped the Tornado for a top four finish.
- In ECAC play Rocket League A went to the bench against Florida Atlantic University
- The series came down to the last game in overtime, but Florida Atlantic took the win handing the Tornado their first ECAC defeat.
- Rocket League B made a statement this week in their 3-0 victory against Campbellsville to move to 2-2 on the season.
- To finish off the week Rocket League A began the first week of the CRL Open Series where they accumulated 50 points, going 5-2 for a top eight finish
VALORANT
- The King Valorant team played against Hood College for NECC league play.
- The Tornado began the first round on attack and found themselves down 6-1.
- After an incredible rally into the defense phase King tied the score 11-11.
- Unfortunately, Hood squeezed out the win as they took the first round 14-12.
- In the second game the score was very close throughout both rounds as Hood and King made some adjustments.
- This match also went into extra rounds but Hood pulled another close win to take the series 2-0.
