BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University esports team continued playoffs over the weekend with Rocket League making their way to the ECAC finals. FIFA earned ECAC playoff win before matching up with the defending champion from Hartford, taking eighth-place finish. Fortnite has one quadruple point round remaining in ECAC playoffs and needs a strong finish to take top 25 finish.
FIFA
- Austin Pantaleo faced Fanshawe College in the first round of ECAC play as the eighth seed.
- He took the first game by a close score of 2-1.
- In the second game both teams were much more offensive, but King earned the win 7-5 to move on to the next round.
- In the second round King faced returning champ from the University of Hartford.
- Hartford managed to take a commanding lead in the first game and King was unable to recover.
- In the second game Hartford again scored first but King was able to make some adjustments as Pantaleo tied the score 2-2.
- King was unable to hold onto the pressure though as Hartford took the series 2-0.
FORTNITE
- Austin Mann and Andrew Wade still sit directly in the middle of the pack as they completed the first round of ECAC playoffs.
- The first round of playoffs was a double point round and next and final round will be a quadruple point round.
- King will need to put together a strong performance to make the top 25 of the ECAC.
ROCKET LEAGUE
- Matt Bilbruck, Sam Calini and Rory Johnsen made some noise over the weekend as they blew through the ECAC playoff bracket to make the finals.
- En route to the finals King pulled 3-0 victories over Stevenson College, Ball State and The College of Staten Island.
- In the semifinals King faced Bay State and managed an impressive 3-1 victory.
- The ECAC finals are set for December 8 at 7:00 p.m.
- In other league news, King finished competition in the UGC.
- After receiving two forfeits from Northwood University and the University of Missouri, King matched up with Florida State University.
- Here the Tornado defeated the Seminoles 3-1.
- In the semifinals King faced off with Stockton University where each match was very close
- Unfortunately, Stockton took the 3-1 win, leaving King with a third-place finish.
