High-powered UMO offense too much for Tornado

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University men's volleyball team opened their Conference Carolinas schedule on Friday night against the preseason league favorite University of Mount Olive. The Trojan offense was too much for the Tornado to handle King fell 3-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
  • The lead changed hands seven times in the early going as King and Mount Olive traded two point runs.
  • The Trojans gained separation with a 5-0 to take a 17-12 lead.
  • King couldn't come back as the Trojans took the set 25-18 behind a .577 attack percentage.
Second Set
  • A 3-0 run gave Mount Olive an early 6-2 lead before a 4-0 spurt stretched the King deficit to 10-3.
  • Mount Olive went on two more 4-0 runs in the 25-13 second-set win that saw the Trojans hit .500.
Third Set
  • The Trojans again made their move early in the third set, using a 3-0 spurt to take a 6-3 advantage.
  • A 4-0 Mount Olive run put the Tornado behind 14-7 before six straight points opened up a 20-9 lead for Mount Olive later in the set.
  • King tried to start a comeback, but it wasn't enough as Mount Olive took the set 25-16 and the match 3-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE FOR THE FOES
  • Tobi Azeez led Mount Olive with 10 kills and six digs while Iyanu Adebisi and Eric Visgitis added nine kills each.
  • Jarrod Ferguson handed out 34 assists and added 10 digs.
