BRISTOL, Tenn. – Following their opening meet of the season, two individuals from the King University acrobatics & tumbling team have earned weekly honors from the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA).
Catherine Reynolds was selected NCATA Athlete of the Week and
Alexis Wynn garnered NCATA Freshman of the Week honors.
In her debut for the Tornado, Reynolds helped lead King to their third straight season-opening win, defeating Lander. In the meet she competed in 11 events, and set one school record. In the tumbling open pass, Reynolds scored 9.875, out of a possible 10.000, breaking the previous record of 9.775 that was set twice, in 2016 and 2019.
In her first collegiate acrobatics & tumbling meet, Wynn helped the Tornado to a win at Lander. She competed in five heats, helping the Tornado score higher than the Bearcats in every heat. Her best event may have been the tumbling six-element pass where she scored 9.100 out of a possible 9.400.
Ninth-ranked King competes at home for the first time this season on Sunday when they host 10th-ranked Limestone University at 3:00 p.m.
