BRISTOL, Tenn. – Three individuals from the King University acrobatics & tumbling team were recognized by the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) when they released their weekly awards on Thursday.
Alexis Wynn was named NCATA Freshman of the Week while
Claire Guittard and
Elizabeth White garnered honorable mention Athlete and Specialist of the Week, respectively.
Wynn played a big role in King's win over 10th-ranked Limestone University, helping the Tornado to their second-highest compulsory score in program history, scoring 37.45. In the compulsory event, Wynn helped the Tornado to season-high scores of 9.30 in the pyramid heat and 8.95 in the tumbling heat. Wynn also helped King to a pair of season-highs in the tumbling event, scoring 8.600 in the trio pass and 9.275 out of 9.500 in the six-element pass.
This marks the second straight week Wynn has been selected NCATA Freshman of the Week.
Guittard competed in 13 events, plus the team event for the Tornado in Saturday's 269.395-269.330 win for the ninth-ranked Tornado over 10th-ranked Limestone. She helped King set a program record in the compulsory acro heat with a score of 9.50 as King posted their second-highest compulsory event score of 37.45 in program history. Guittard also competed in two tumbling events, helping King to their second-highest tumbling score in program history with a score of 53.725. In the meet, King posted the second highest total score and team event scores in program history.
White helped the Tornado to a win over 10th-ranked Limestone with a solid performance in the pyramid event. King posted season-highs in heats 1 and 2. The best heat for the Tornado was heat 2, scoring 9.50 out of a possible 9.80.
The Tornado are scheduled to be in action again on March 16 at home against Belmont Abbey College. The meet is scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m.
