BANNER ELK, N.C. – The King University men's volleyball team traveled rival Lees-McRae College on Thursday night and came away with a Conference Carolinas win. The Tornado had three players reach double figures in kills as they took the match 3-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
- Two kills from Diego Marcano and a kill from Joshua Kim gave King an early 3-1 lead.
- Lees-McRae came back and evened the score at 12, but the Tornado responded with four straight points, started by a Jackson Carroll kill.
- Douglas Florencio capped the run and gave King a 16-12 lead as Belmont Abbey called for a timeout.
- King held the lead there and eventually took the set 25-21.
Second Set
- The teams went back-and-forth early on before the Bobcats used three straight points to take a 9-6 lead.
- Lees-McRae broke a 10-10 tie with five straight points, but the Tornado chipped away at the deficit.
- Another Florencio kill evened the set at 18 before the teams traded runs.
- Lees-McRae scored back-to-back points before five straight King points gave the Tornado a 23-20 lead.
- King had kills from Florencio, JT Deppe, and Kim on the run while Marcano served up an ace and Deppe and Florencio teamed up for a block.
- Carroll and Marcano posted kills to give King the 25-23 victory.
Third Set
- King opened the third set with three blocks and a kill from King to take a 4-1 lead.
- The Tornado used a 5-1 run to take a 10-5 lead and force a Lees-McRae timeout.
- Aaron Milstead and Carroll bookended a 5-0 Tornado spurt that put King ahead 19-8 with kills.
- The Tornado then went on to take the set 25-15 and the match 3-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Marcano led King with 15 kills, six digs and two blocks.
- Carroll followed with 12 kills, five digs and two blocks.
- Kim added 10 kills, six digs and two blocks.
- Deppe handed out 32 assists and added seven digs.
- Milstead posted five blocks and Noah Melendez accounted for seven digs.
FOR THE FOES
- Ethan Gardner and Michael Marsans led Lees-McRae with six kills each. Marsans added six digs.
- M.J. Doyle posted eight digs while Riley Chapman handed out 20 assists.
