BRISTOL, Tenn. – King University softball head coach
Jake Cockerham has announced the 2022 schedule. The Tornado are scheduled to play 54 games, 24 in Conference Carolinas play.
King opens the season on February 15 at home against reginal rival UVA Wise before taking on perennial regional power Lenoir-Rhyne University on the road the following day. The Tornado will face three teams that qualified for an NCAA Regional in 2021, regional runner-up Lincoln Memorial University on February 23, Tusculum University on March 8 and Emmanuel College on April 23.
The Tornado open Conference Carolinas play on the road against new league members UNC Pembroke on March 18 and Francis Marion University on March 19.
The Conference Carolinas Softball Championship returns to Tyger River Park in Duncan, S.C. for the second straight year. The field has expanded to 10 teams for 2022 with the 6-10 seeds playing a single elimination play-in game to set the eight-team double elimination bracket. The championship will start on April 28 and conclude on May 1.
